The Catherine Palace is the summer palace of the Russian tsars which is situated in the town Pushkin (another name is Tsarskoye Selo, which means – Tsar’s village) 24 km south of St. Petersburg. If you want to imagine, what does it mean luxury of the Russian tsars, what does it mean a lot of gold it’s a place to visit. It has more gold in it than all other palaces in the world. During restoration of this palace more than 30kg of gold were used only for the interior. One of the rooms here is especially famous – it’s the world famous Amber Room. Usually we use amber for jewelry –necklaces or bracelets, but in that room all the walls are faced with amber!

The Catherine palace was built in the middle of the 18th century for the Russian Empress Elizabeth who is famous as the most beautiful lady in the Romanov family and who lived in the most luxuries way which is only possible to imagine, spending her time among balls and huntings. Later on another famous Russian tsarina Catherine the Great used to live in the palace and some of the rooms were redesigned for her in a classical style. More information about the Catherine Palace you can find here.

The tour will take four hours: one hour for the way to the residence, around one hour in the palace, some time for the beautiful garden and one hour for the way back. In winter we’ll spend more time in the palace and less in the garden.

NB! In the high season it’s necessary to order tickets in advance! If you come without a guide probably you won’t be able to visit the palace or you will spend several hours in a queue!
